Breast Sonography (Sonomammography)
Breast ultrasound is used to help diagnose breast abnormalities detected during a physical examination (such as a lump or nipple discharge) and to characterize further findings or abnormalities seen on Xray mammography.
During ultrasound imaging of the breast Doppler techniques to evaluate blood flow may often be necessary.
Even after breast ultrasound, further investigations may be needed such as breast biopsy, Xray mammography and breast MRI.
