Venous Study of Limbs
One of the commonest reasons for this examination is to detect venous thrombosis which means clotting of blood in the veins. Varicose veins, which result from incompetence of valves in the veins, is another common reason for doing venous doppler examination. Recurrence of varicose veins or signs of venous incompetence after previous treatment of varicose veins is another important reason for this study.
Mapping of veins in the leg or may be asked for prior to cardiac surgical bypass if the veins are to used in the bypass surgery.
